Who We Are

Mount Olive is a faith community that welcomes people as they come and fosters a sense of belonging. Because we strive to follow Jesus and share God’s love, we welcome all people and encourage them to share their gifts with others. We joyfully worship our God of abundance and celebrate his love for us. Worship, faith exploration, and mutual support are foundational for living out our lives of faith in God and service to others. When we join together in prayer and service to those in our local community and beyond, we are witnesses to God’s grace. We exist for the people who aren’t here.

We are part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) which is part of the Christian church. We believe God’s grace, God’s unfathomable love, is available to all people as a gift through Jesus Christ.

My Name is Pastor Steve Bogie, and I am excited to be able to walk with you, and get to know you, as we proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ together. The call to be a pastor is an exciting vocation, because one gets to walk with faithful people and build relationships with them along the way. It is an honor to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ with the good people of Mount Olive. My pastoral heart flows through my preaching, worship, and teaching. I believe that my pastoral care is the greatest gift that I possess and is where the Holy Spirit can be most perceived in my ministry. Yet, music and God’s word are very much part of my life, as well, and are gifts that I love to share with others. If you feel like having a conversation, you will find that I am approachable and love to laugh. My laugh is loud, but infectious, at most times, in a good way. It is hoped that you will notice my pastoral heart, and that I care deeply for people and their spiritual needs. However, there will be times that you will find that I am very human. Generally, I am most content when building relationships with people doing God’s life-giving work together. The miraculous comes forth in such times of working together towards God’s will and purpose for our lives and for creation. Peace be with you all!

I grew up in Eastern Montana and attended college in Rapid City, where I met Les, my husband of 39 years. We lived in the Seattle area before moving to Wisconsin in 2005. Both of our grown daughters graduated from Mukwonago High School. Our oldest daughter, Holly, is a registered nurse, works at Gundersen in LaCrosse, and is engaged to be married next August to Trevor Carlson, a county sheriff. Our youngest daughter, Kalli, is a commercial banking lender in Columbia, SC, and married to Ty Jones who is a combat medic in the Army and stationed at Fort Jackson. They blessed us with our first granddaughter, Ellie (2), and she is the light of our lives. We live in the Town of Mukwonago, and Les works as an engineer at Zero Zone in North Prairie.

Hello Friends in Christ! My name is Deanna Kulow and I am the current Worship Music Leader. I have been so blessed to have grown up in the Grace and Love of Jesus Christ.

I have been a singer for as long as I can remember and that love took me to the University of Wisconsin Whitewater where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Music with an emphasis in Vocal Performance. This August, I began a new chapter in my life becoming a second choral director at Mukwonago High School. It has been a delightful new experience! I also spend time at the Music Cafe just a block away from MTO and teach private vocal lessons!
